Stress free Party planning Tips for Busy moms on the go

September 16, 2020 No Comments

If there is one thing that I thrive on, it is finding various tips and tricks to make life easier. Utilizing some party planning tips can be the most helpful, because let’s admit party planning can be stressful. It is even more stressful when you are a busy mom, and I don’t know what mom isn’t busy. So I am going tell you how I do stress free party planning.

FROZEN THEMED PARTY

I really can’t believe that Naomi is 3 already. If you read my blog post on The Journey of a Sickle Cell Warrior you that I didn’t think that I was even going to have a child but God had other plans, and here we are celebrating my baby’s 3rd Birthday. This year is the first year that she was actually able to vocalize what she wanted for a birthday, theme and all. Naomis is currently obsessed with all things she Frozen. So of course she chose Frozen. Personally I’m not a fan, I feel like it is so overdone, but it isn’t my birthday. Making sure there is a smile on my daughter’s face on her birthday is what matters most. So we went with the Frozen theme. Since she had her Frozen theme party, I opted to do a more Boho chic photoshoot. I kept it kind of simple. I love doing mini photoshoots for her birthdays click here to see how I put together her DIY birthday photoshoot.

Tips for stress free party planning

1. Know what you want.

One thing that causes a lot of stress when planning a party is we do not always know what we want. Things to consider: Theme, Number of people, Location, Decorations, Food, Entertainment. Once that is figured out the planning can begin to be stress free.

For Naomi’s Birthday I knew she wanted a Frozen theme. So that helped me a lot when it came to decorations. Because of Covid 19 I knew that party was going to be small and intimate, so just family. Since the party was small I didn’t have to worry about a location it would be at the house. I would order some of the food and cook some so that there was variety without the stress of cooking too much.

It was important to  bring the theme alive so I decided to do a Frozen inspired balloon garland that I got from Amazon HERE. I also picked up a balloon pump from Amazon HERE, because there was no way I was going to blow all the balloons up by mouth. It was important to have Elsa, Anna, and Olaf present too. So from Amazon I picked up a huge balloon of the three of them, you can pick it up HERE. This area was the center focus of the party. Lastly I wanted to have some decorations surrounding the yard so I did some DIY garlands with streamers I picked up in a set from Amazon HERE and it was the perfect color set for her theme.

2. Start Backwards

Once you #1( know what you want) start the planning backwards. So for me the last thing on the birthday party night would be Naomi opening her gifts. So being that I am starting backwards, that was the first thing I purchased. I try not to go overboard with the toys for birthday gifts because, let me be honest, Christmas is around the corner. Naomi also has tons of aunts and an uncle who spoils her like crazy.

Keeping with the same theme of Frozen, a lot of her gifts were Frozen related, along with some other goodies. Below are some of the things we got her.

Continue to work backwards in your party planning, until you have covered all the major details. This year Naomi was lucky enough to have a party and also celebrate at school with her friends.  You can find outfit one HERE and the skirt for outfit two HERE.

3. Write things Down

Now Kudos to you if you are able to keep track of everything in your head, for me I need to write things down. Writing things down is the only way to ensure that I am going to remember everything, and that party planning remains stress free.

Now I have many different ways of going about this, sometimes I find it easier for me to just put it on my phone. One thing I always go back to is a simple pen and paper. I have created this birthday party checklist to help my busy mamas out there with any type of party planning.

4. Plan Ahead

Now this one goes right along with #3 as you start planning your party make sure to write things down. When you plan your party weeks or months in advance it helps to ease the stress on the actual party day. If you plan ahead, the only thing left to do on party day is to delegate and execute.

5.Double Check Everything

Don’t assume things are ready to go. Take the time to go back and double check everything. I pride myself on being a pretty organized person but we are all human and things can get looked over. So do yourself the favor, go back and double check.

I hope someone out there finds this helpful. Over all what is important is the occasion that is being celebrated, All of my strategic planning was worth the smile on Naomi’s face.
